Alice Glass exploded to fame in 2004 when she became the lead vocalist of the electronic duo Crystal Castles. Alice Glass was born Margaret Osborn in Toronto, Ontario on 23 August 1988. Her family was Catholic and attended a parochial school until junior high. She left her home when she was 15 to form the punk group Fetus Fatale, and lived in a squat with other punks. Ethan Kath, a former Kill Cheerleader bassist, was her first contact. After having been amazed by Fetus Fatale's performance, he offered her 60 demos of instrumentals and five tracks of vocals on CD-Rs. The two began working on Crystal Castles in December 2003. The name was derived from a pin she taken that bore the name Alice and Hopey Glass (a character from Love and Rockets), Alice Glass was chosen for her stage name.
