Madhuri Dixit

Madhuri Dixit is an acclaimed Indian actress known for her performances in the film Beta Saajan and Hum Hain Kun..! Her career began in the 80s before coming to popularity with her role in the Tezaab film, in which she appeared with veteran actor Anil Kapoor. Her next film was the film Dil In which she starred alongside Aamir Khan. Born into an Mumbai middle-class family, and started dancing when she was a child. At the age of 15 when she began to act, she had a difficult time as a majority of her films were flops. Her breakthrough came when she finally had success and then went on to be one of the top actors in the Indian film industry. The marriage of her mother led to a pause in her career. She returned later. Dixit played an important role in Gulaab Gang, a film focused on women's struggles in India. Dixit was nominated for fifteen Filmfare Awards. Of these she's won eight. Padma Shri - the fourth highest civilian honor in India awarded to Dixit. She is also acknowledged for her work in the field of charity.
